The most fun you can legally have with a chainsaw!

WHAT ARE WORK WEEKENDS?
We head out to the property for 4 different weekends before the burn to get the land ready for the event. In years past, work weekends were used to clear new campsites and create entirely new camping areas, maintaining spaces that already exist, clearing dead branches and felled trees, outlining existing trails, etc. Since we're at a new site this year, we'll be removing a tree, rebuilding fences, widening gates, and removing junk from the new land.

WHEN ARE 2025 WORK WEEKENDS?
Aug 22-24
Sept 5-7
Sept 19-21
Sept 26-28

WHO CAN COME?
Anyone who is welcome at NTXB events!
Every work weekend will have at least one LLC member, the Land Prep Lead and/or Assistant Lead, and possibly the site owners onsite during the duration of the work.
Kids that are old enough to help out are welcome. They need to be supervised by their parent/guardian at all times and minor waivers will need to be signed. No one under the age of 18 will be allowed to use power tools.
Service Animals must remain tethered to you and within 20 feet of you at all times due to the risk of injury by the llamas.

IS THIS A PARTY?
We work, but we have fun with it. After work ends on Saturday, we all relax. We hang out and chat. Libations are had, food is eaten, and stories are told. It's more like camping with friends.

WHAT'S THE SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE?
YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN A WAIVER UPON ARRIVAL. Most people will roll in and set up camp Friday evening. Those that are just there for the day usually show up Saturday morning by 10am. Work continues until the scheduled objective is done or the heat gets to be too much. Most people head home by noon Sunday. Everyone can come and go as they please.

CAN I DRINK WHILE WORKING?
We're going to be using chainsaws and mowers and power tools and vehicles. Own your experience and be responsible while the work happens. Don't endanger yourself or others. There will be plenty of time for of-age participants to drink after work ends but if you're 21+ and like a cold beer during the work, we certainly won't stop you. Just keep it baseline!

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Everything you would bring for camping in the woods for two days while doing manual labor in the sun: Plenty of water, food,  medical supplies that you may need, a tent, trash bags, bug spray, sunscreen, work gloves and eye protection. Car camping is allowed during work weekends.
Bring any equipment you can for clearing vegetation. Loppers, string trimmers, machetes, shovels, chainsaws, etc.
Wear clothing and footwear that protects against sun, bugs, and wood particles.

WHAT DO WE GET FOR THIS?
First, you get the knowledge that you helped make the burn itself happen - it can't happen without work weekends! Our community is all about volunteering, and if you spend an afternoon (or more) sweating with your new weirdo friends to prep the land for our event? That's something you can be proud of!
Second, anyone who shows up and works at any work weekend will qualify for early release VIP (Volunteer Incentive Program) tickets for the following year. If you work for more than 12 hours, you even get $25 off next year's ticket!
Third? Work weekends are a lot of work, but also just a hell of a lot of fun. AAAND those participating usually get a limited edition commemorative gift of some sort like a sticker, a shirt, or a patch.
