WHAT ARE BUILD WEEKENDS?
For 4-5 different weekends before the burn every year, we head to the build property in Palestine, TX to build the effigy and temple structures. We'll go over plans, build the framework in such a way it can be transported to the event site, and then, once on site, we assemble it completely and add any interactive elements!
WHEN ARE THE 2025 BUILD WEEKENDS?
Aug 29-31
Sept 5-7
Sept 12-14
Sept 19-21
Sept 26-28
WHO CAN COME?
Anyone who is welcome at NTXB events!
Don't know anything about building or power tools? TOTALLY OKAY! We'll need help making sure people stay hydrated, cleaning up after the build crews, and extra hands to hold things in place!
Every build weekend will have at least one LLC member, the META Lead and/or Assistant Lead, and a handful of builders and helpers.
Kids that are old enough to help out are welcome. They need to be supervised by their parent/guardian at all times and minor waivers will need to be signed. No one under the age of 18 will be allowed to use power tools, though!
IS THIS A PARTY?
We work, but we have fun with it. After work ends each day, we'll likely just hang out and relax with each other. Since camping is allowed on site, it will be like a little mini-burn with a little extra work.
WHAT'S THE SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE?
YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN A WAIVER UPON ARRIVAL.
Most people will roll in and set up camp Friday evening. Those that are just there for the day usually show up Saturday morning by 10am. Work continues until the scheduled objective is done or the heat gets to be too much. Most people head home by noon Sunday. Everyone can come and go as they please.
CAN I DRINK WHILE WORKING?
We're going to be using power tools and share objects and building heavy things. Own your experience and be responsible while the work happens. Don't endanger yourself or others. There will be plenty of time for of-age participants to drink after work ends but if you're 21+ and like a cold beer during the work, we certainly won't stop you. Just keep it baseline!
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Everything you would bring for camping in the woods for two days while doing manual labor in the sun: Plenty of water, food, medical supplies that you may need, a tent, trash bags, bug spray, sunscreen, work gloves and eye protection.
Bring any of your own personal tools you prefer using, but there will be tools available on site.
Wear clothing and footwear that protects against sun, bugs, and wood particles.

WHAT ARE THE RULES FOR THE BUILD SITE?
- You can camp on site if you'd like.
- There is a restroom and shower available in the office to the left of the garage.
- Please do not go in and out of the main house.
- There is a pool available so bring your swimmies!
- Don't pester the animals.
WHAT DO WE GET FOR THIS?
- The knowledge that you helped make the burn itself happen - we don't get an effigy or a temple without build weekends! Spending an afternoon (or more) sweating with your new weirdo friends to build giant structures we get to light on fire? That's something you can be proud of!
- Also, anyone who shows up and works at any build weekend will qualify for early release VIP (Volunteer Incentive Program) tickets for the following year AND if you work 12+ hours, you get $25 off of next year's ticket, too!
- Those participating usually get a limited edition commemorative gift of some sort like a sticker, a shirt, or a patch!
