We are less than two weeks out from RV & Theme Camp Registration closing! If you are planning to bring an RV or a Theme Camp, get you information in ASAP. The faster we get info, the faster we can potentially get a proof map out and give everyone an opportunity to come out on the work weekends of Sept 21 and Sept 28 to mow and tend to your area. (Note if you come weekend of Sept 21, prepare for the afternoon so Site Ops has time to get out there and weekend of Sept 28 is all hands on deck). If you are already registered, continue to keep an eye on your email as we will be sending questions for any clarifications needed for placement.

Hey folks!

This year will be a pretty fun year to be a part of the META team, so come on out to the land and help us build!

We will be having an in-person only meeting August 24th at 6pm at the home of the META Lead, Minnie, in Kaufman. If you would like to help out this year, come on out, have some burgers with us, and let’s talk about the plan. To get the address to the meeting, please reach out to Minnie or find the event in the META Facebook group.

We will be building both the effigy and the temple on site at Armadillo Acres during the VIP Work Weekends Aug 30- Sept 2, Sept 13-15, & Sept 27-29.

There will be plenty of opportunities for all skill levels to get involved! No experience needed, just a willingness to help. Show up Friday night and stay all weekend or come for just a few hours to lend a hand.

Sha Tay Tay will be leading Temple build working Saturdays during the day down on the lower field.
Greenbean will be leading the Effigy build. He will have a day shift working from around 9am until it gets too hot to work gathering the materials we need from the shady woods. That team will then rest during the heat of the day and pick back up around 7pm, once the lower field is in better shade, and working into the night on construction.

Please check in with Minnie when you arrive or depart so she can keep track of your volunteer hours.
A meal will be provided for the build team each weekend, and there will be plenty of supplies on hand as well for anyone who would like to make themselves a sandwich for lunches. We will also have plenty of water and gatorade on hand to keep people hydrated.

Volunteer Registration is OPEN, and it’s a great time to join the Land Ops team as we clear and prep Armadillo Acres leading up to the main event! Land Ops leads several critical on-site work weekends in Hughes Springs to clear brush and fallen trees, mow overgrown plants, open up trails, ensure roads are open and functional and get campsites ready for use. These are typically longer volunteer shifts than other departments but come with some nice benefits like:

• Easily rack up your necessary hours to secure next year’s VIP tickets
• No ticket required to join work weekends—camp with us on the land and enjoy working and playing with a great group of burners outside Myschievia itself!
• Volunteering early means more time to kick back and enjoy the burn
  
  

We have three work weekends scheduled for Land Ops duties:

• August 30th - September 2nd (Long Weekend)
• September 13th - 15th
• September 27th - 29th

Great news, Art Enthusiasts! The Art Department has been cooking up some spicy updates—no, not a late-night taco truck, but close! After an exhausting marathon of deliberation, research, rewrites, and some serious legal mumbo-jumbo, we've revamped the Art Grant Policy!
Here’s the scoop:

1. No More Waiting Game: Art Grant recipients will now get 100% of their funds upfront! That’s right—no more 50/50 split. You’ll still need to turn in your receipts by the end of October or face the dreaded “no-future-funding” penalty, but you won't have to front the costs and wait to be reimbursed. You're welcome!
   
2. Leads, You’re In!: Yes, you heard it right—leads can now apply for art grants too! We know you’re the masterminds behind the scenes and could use a little extra help bringing your art. Just a heads up: LLC, Batcave, and the Art Grant Committee are still out of the running due to conflicts of interest. But if you’re not in the money-distribution game, why shouldn’t you get a boost for your art?
   
3. Food’s In: We’ve decided to include food coverage in art grants! Because let’s face it—who doesn’t need a grilled cheese sandwich shoved in their face while volunteering? Creativity thrives on cheese and comfort!
   
4. Art Supplies, Not Infrastructure: We’re sticking to funding supplies for creating art, not infrastructure for theme camps or art cars. So, we still can’t fund a canopy or transportation, but we CAN fund art for it!!

We have limited spots for CPR training kicking off at 9:30 AM. (I know, not the most glamorous hour of the day, but hey saving lives is pretty awesome, right?) 
Sanctuary and Rangers training will start at noon. 
And, as always, we’ll wrap things up with a mock ICS Drill after the training. 
We’ll be heading out by 3:30 PM.
