A Bit About the Graphics of this Year's Map: This year, I struggled with how to represent our theme, Coming Home. For many of us it’s been far too long since we've been Home, and what makes Myschievia home to us is uniquely held within each of you. So I picked a memory that pulls at my heart strings and hopes to encapsulate what Coming Home to Myschievia means for me. Years ago, as Effigy Lead, I walked down to the lower field as the sun was setting. I climbed up to the top of the Tea Cup, laid down and gazed up at the sky. As dusk set in, the bats came out. Dipping and swooping, catching their breakfast. You won't see them at the event. The pounding music and revelry keeps them away. But in the quiet twilight of a Work Weekend they're there. I had forgotten until then that our logo and Batcave are inspired by the bats that inhabit the Piney Playa. In that quiet, expansive night I felt exquisitely present in a way I never would have in the bustle of the event. Even with its sandy loam and problematic trees, I couldn’t imagine Myschievia happening on any other land. This is Home. So, welcome Home. - Havok Comments are closed.
