There are still several important shifts we need covered so there's plenty of opportunities for you to step up!
CRITICAL SHIFTS MEAT -Medical. May require training. Onsite training: 8pm - 10pm Friday- Friday 7pm - 1am and 1am - 7 pm Saturday 7pm - 1pm This is normally the busiest shift and need volunteer to help out fire team so it's EXTRA critical! Sunday: 7am - 1 pm, 1 pm - 7 pm, and 7pm - 1am SANCTUARY -Mental health. All shifts require training. Onsite training: 6pm - 8pm on Friday- Saturday: 1am - 9am and 9pm - 1am Multiple shifts all day Sunday and Monday! RANGERS -General safety. All shifts require training. Onsite training: 1pm - 5pm on Friday- Multiple Thursday night shifts! Multiple Friday early morning shifts! Multiple Saturday early morning and evening shifts! All day Sunday and Monday! PERIMETER -Get a front row seat to the effigy burn! One shift only!- Saturday: 7pm - midnight OTHER IMPORTANT SHIFTS ZONE GUIDE Friday: 4pm - 8pm, 8pm - 1am Saturday: Noon - 3pm, 3pm - 7pm DMV Thursday: 4pm - 8pm, 8pm - midnight Friday: 8pm - midnight Saturday: Noon - 3pm Hop over to the Volunteer Registration Page to fill out your intake form and pick your shift. We need your help to make it happen. We appreciate you! Safety Volunteers: Thanks for riding this bronco with us. We were able to get back up, dust off our chaps, and hop back into the saddle. DATE: Saturday September 16th TIME: 10am-5pm 09:30 AM - Earliest arrival 10:00 AM - CPR and Morning Department Training 11:30 AM - Afternoon Participants can begin arriving 12:00 PM - Snack Break 12:30 PM - Radio Training and ICS Drill 2:30 PM - Snack Break 3:00 PM - Afternoon Department Training 5:00 PM - Go Home! (Our host has requested that we be out asap after 5 as they have another event shortly after) REGISTER HERE IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED TO TEST FOR COVID-19 SATURDAY MORNING. The last thing we want is to have the entire safety team down with Covid for burn, and we have immunocompromised volunteers joining us on Saturday. #CivicResponsibility and whatnot. LOCATION: 7700 Swan Park Dr, Denton TX 76210 Corner lot, plenty of parking, but carpool if you can. We are in an HOA but we've had no noise or neighbor complaints so far, let's keep it that way. 3 dogs live here, a gentle giant and 2 old Chihuahuas. Please don't bring any more pets. There is a bathroom downstairs and upstairs. If you are bringing a service animal please let me know so we can expect their presence with you. VIRTUAL TRAINING will be simulcast for Sanctuary. If you can’t attend, ON-LAND TRAINING will be done on Friday. Rangers from 1-5 pm, Fire from 5-6 pm, Sanctuary from 6-8 pm, Meats from 8-10 pm. Please reach out to your Lead to see about additional virtual training opportunities. Note: Please complete your independent ICS training prior to the Expo if you are not previously certified. If this training is not completed by burn you will have to be reassigned Roles that require FEMA Training - ICS 100: Shift Supervisors and MHA Roles that must ALSO have FEMA Training - ICS 200: Leads and Duty Chiefs and MHA You know the drill - it's a burner event, so bring along everything you need, but at the very least bring a folding chair or a comfy floor cushion, your water, and anything else you know you will be wanting. We will be feeding you. We appreciate everything Miera has put into prepping the Safety Extravaganza so far.
The bad news for y'all is that Miera is our current CPR/First Aid/AED trainer. This means that WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OFFER CPR/BLS/AED TRAINING THIS SATURDAY (9/16) AT THE SAFETY EXTRAVAGANZA. Gritt, MEATS assistant lead will be training department protocols for MEATS. If you have been considering learning the fine art of Rangering or developing your skill in active listening, Rangers and Sanctuary will be offering their full training sessions. This may be a good cross training opportunity for prospective MEATS volunteers who would like to broaden their skillset.
