We will be feeding you. Update 9/15: We found replacement instructors - please see latest blog post here: http://www.ntxb.org/blog/new-moar-safety-extravaganza-updates Unfortunately our MEATS lead has just tested Covid positive, a risk inherent in her healthcare profession. We appreciate everything Miera has put into prepping the Safety Extravaganza so far.
The bad news for y'all is that Miera is our current CPR/First Aid/AED trainer. This means that WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OFFER CPR/BLS/AED TRAINING THIS SATURDAY (9/16) AT THE SAFETY EXTRAVAGANZA. Gritt, MEATS assistant lead will be training department protocols for MEATS. If you have been considering learning the fine art of Rangering or developing your skill in active listening, Rangers and Sanctuary will be offering their full training sessions. This may be a good cross training opportunity for prospective MEATS volunteers who would like to broaden their skillset. Please consider coming out this Saturday even if you can't get your certification at this event. Watch here on NTXB.org for updates about future CPR/BLS/AED training opportunities. Much appreciation as always for keeping Myschievia safe! The Safety Team Leads are thrilled to announce the Safety Expo will be held Saturday, September 16th. We'll be hosting it at a private residence in South Denton, but don't worry, we'll share the exact time, address, and all the other juicy details closer to the event date. We're gonna have all the safety camp leads giving training for the 2023 volunteers at this awesome event. Since this is 100% volunteer-run gig, we're hoping to keep the number of training meetings outside of the Expo to a minimum. We get it, though! Life happens, and some of you may not be able to make it to the Expo. No worries! We've got your back. We'll organize some extra training dates to accommodate those who can't make it. Now, when it comes to the training, it's going to be split into two parts. First off, you'll get some individual training for your safety team. And then, get ready for the real deal - we're gonna do a combined exercise using FEMA ICS to simulate an incident. All of our awesome departments will work together to navigate this bad boy. Please complete your independent ICS training prior to the Expo if you are not previously certified. Roles that require FEMA Training - ICS 100: Shift Supervisors and MHA Roles that must ALSO have FEMA Training - ICS 200: Leads and Duty Chiefs and MHA Just a heads up, this event has typically lasted about 4-5 hours in the past. So, make sure you plan accordingly. You know the drill - it's a burner event, so bring along everything you need, but at the very least bring a folding chair or a comfy floor cushion. See you there! -The Myschievia 2023 Safety Team |
