Crossroads is full and there is no open camping there. Previous to 2019 and our bloom in RV numbers, there had been open RV camping at Crossroads and many RV owners still expect that to be the case. We do not prevent RVs from being in Open Camping (as long as it's not on the Lower Field, because no wheels on the Lower Field). The open camping that RVs can camp in is wooded and space to park was dubious before the pandemic. The land has retaken much in our absence. Dagobah open camping is not ideal for RV or car camping as the back portion is sandy loam and turns into quicksand with the combination of rain and traffic. We have hundreds of participants on land and it always rains at least once. For all cars or RVs in Dagobah I'd recommend parking on traction boards. Honestly, I'd recommend it for any vehicles larger than a gator that will stay parked on land. Overflow RVs will be placed in parking. It's not a punishment, it's a restriction of the land. -Havok City Planning Lead P.S. What's an RV? RV, or recreational vehicle, is a motor vehicle or trailer that will be used for living, sleeping, or entertaining purposes while on land. RVs include motorhomes, campervans, caravans (also known as travel trailers and camper trailers), fifth-wheel trailers, teardrop trailers, popup campers, toy haulers, truck campers, tiny homes, and converted box and flatbed trailers. In short, if it's not a car, truck, gator, or art car, we classify it as an RV. The eagerly anticipated participants’ map is here! A Bit About the Graphics of this Year's Map: This year, I struggled with how to represent our theme, Coming Home. For many of us it’s been far too long since we've been Home, and what makes Myschievia home to us is uniquely held within each of you. So I picked a memory that pulls at my heart strings and hopes to encapsulate what Coming Home to Myschievia means for me. Years ago, as Effigy Lead, I walked down to the lower field as the sun was setting. I climbed up to the top of the Tea Cup, laid down and gazed up at the sky. As dusk set in, the bats came out. Dipping and swooping, catching their breakfast. You won't see them at the event. The pounding music and revelry keeps them away. But in the quiet twilight of a Work Weekend they're there. I had forgotten until then that our logo and Batcave are inspired by the bats that inhabit the Piney Playa. In that quiet, expansive night I felt exquisitely present in a way I never would have in the bustle of the event. Even with its sandy loam and problematic trees, I couldn’t imagine Myschievia happening on any other land. This is Home. So, welcome Home. - Havok Did you know Myschievia is staffed entirely by volunteers? Volunteering gets us out there, interacting with participants, learning the land, and letting Myschievia get to know you. It's how we give back to our community and make this event happen!
