There's a particular kind of magic that happens before the burn ever begins - out on the land, weeks in advance - when a handful of volunteers show up with chainsaws, loppers, tring trimmers, mowers, and work gloves and turn raw acreage into a home for our community.
What Land Prep Does Work weekends are exactly what they sound like: four weekends spent on the property getting it ready for the event. Depending on the year, that can mean clearing new campsites, maintaining existing ones, hauling off dead branches and felled trees, marking trails, or tackling whatever the land throws at us. It's not glamorous work. It's hot, it's sweaty, and it usually involves some combination of sunscreen, bug spray, and sheer stubbornness. But it's also some of the most meaningful volunteer time in the entire lead-up to the burn because none of Myschievia is possible without it.
