I know everyone is super eager to start signing up for their shifts and I am super ready for that madness to begin! I am waiting on some final approvals from the Leads on their shifts before I release the shift spreadsheet. You can expect sometime early next week for that to become available.
In the meantime, the Volunteer Form is up and running and everyone can start filling this out. As a reminder: you MUST fill this out before signing up for any shifts. If this form is not filled out, the leads will not be able to approve the shifts you request on the spreadsheet. PLEASE fill this out first! Two new things that are changing this year:
We understand that volunteerism is a hot topic every year, and it will continue being a hot topic every year moving forward until we all die, I am sure! We know the system is not perfect and every year we try to get just a little bit better and adjust our behaviors based on prior experience. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we explore new ways of doing things. If at any time you have questions, concerns, or need guidance on navigating your volunteer shifts; please do not hesitate to reach out to me or the lead of the department you are interested in volunteering in. Also feel free to check out the Volunteer Page for a little insight on what each position will entail. Please also try to be mindful that we ourselves are volunteers with jobs and responsibilities outside of this event and may not be able to answer in the immediate moment. However, we will do our best to answer questions as soon as possible. Myschievia - We Are Star Stuff Art Grant Applications are coming to a close in less than two weeks! We wanted to give you a nudge incase there is an project you are thinking of bringing. Art Grants are inclusive to EVERYONE besides Art Lead, LLC, and the volunteers of the Art Grant Committee. Whether you're thinking of: Trickery! Fire! Lights! Sculpture! Sound! Gifts! The sky is the limit. Come one, come all and lets make some art for That Thing in The Woods! ALL SANCTUARY VOLUNTEERS NEED TRAINING ANNUALLY! There is one scheduled Sanctuary training for Myschevia 2019 in Austin on August 10th. Additional trainings will be held in Dallas (7/27), Denton (8/25), DFW Safety Extravaganza (9/15), and on-land (Fri 10/11). Check the calendar for details! EVERYONE NEEDS LISTENER TRAINING! It's one hour of mostly radical listening with some fun exercises peppered in to keep you awake. We will accept any Sanctuary Listener training you have completed in the most recent 12 months before Myschevia. YES, WE ACCEPT TRAINING FROM OTHER BURNS (but please read our packet at the top of your shift)! MHA's & SHIFT SUPERVISORS ALSO NEED SUPERVISOR TRAINING! (Don’t worry, it’s just a 30-min add-on to Listener training.) Have real-world mental health experience? You're qualified to take MHA Training. Have worked at least one listener shift and want to help supervise? You're qualified to take Shift Supervisor Training. Time for the ticket roll call! As you know, LLC provided us with guaranteed incentive tickets for last year's volunteers, so there will be NO CRITICAL VOLUNTEER tickets this year. If you already have a ticket, great! If not, start with Texas Ticket Fairy (which should be live for Myschievia by July 14th). Next, try personal trades! Safety team leads are working to connect our volunteers with available tickets. If you are planning to come to Myschievia and volunteer for Sanctuary, I will add you to the Safety team database. This is not a guaranteed ticket, and you should definitely keep looking through other channels! Please let me know your ticket status via email.
